Prologue
Heroine.
A being fated to be connected to the protagonist, bringing significant changes, big or small, to the protagonist and the world around them.
I never thought I would be involved with someone bearing such a tremendous destiny…
…Or so I thought in my younger days.
But that was purely my misconception.

Sunlight bathed the academy's hallway in a warm glow.
A tense murmur filled the air.
Some held their breath, others whispered, and some wore expressions of awe.
Their gazes converged on a boy and a girl standing amidst the crowd.
The girl had pale, silvery-blue hair, reminiscent of the heart of winter, and deep blue eyes.
Her beauty, like a masterpiece meticulously sculpted by a master craftsman, was framed by a chillingly impassive expression that seemed to freeze anyone who met her gaze.
Beside her, a boy with a gentle demeanor gracefully acknowledged the greetings of those around them.
His light brown hair, the color of hazelnuts, was complemented by emerald green eyes that peered out from behind thick-rimmed glasses.
Harmless.
That was the word that best described his overall impression.
Moments later, after navigating through the sea of people, they reached a secluded hallway and stopped before a large door.
The boy stepped forward, turned the handle, and the girl entered the room with a click of her heels.
Crossing the vast room, which seemed too spacious to be called a single room, the girl settled at her desk.
And then…
"Haaa… I'm exhausted."
With a weary sigh, the girl propped her legs up on the desk.
It was a sight completely at odds with the cold aura she had exuded just moments ago.
"Seriously… What if someone sees you like that?"
The boy let out a short sigh as he watched her.
Steel Princess, Lagrind's Vampire, Cold-blooded Witch…
The nicknames she carried were all chilling and formidable.
But looking at her now, none of them seemed to fit.
"That's why you're here, aren't you?"
"Honestly…"
Why did she act like a perfect superhuman in public but become so relaxed when they were alone?
The boy scratched his head with a perplexed expression and handed her a stack of documents with a sigh.
"Here, this week's approval documents. I've already taken care of everything I could handle."
"Thanks."
The girl winked at him as she took the documents.
And in response to her words, the boy chuckled.
"Don't mention it. We're childhood friends, after all."
