Attack of the Legion Commanders
To be fair, assaults were a common occurrence in the Middle Ages.
There were just too many people who preferred to plunder others' belongings rather than earn them through their own effort.
However-
"...Lukphelton is a bit strange."
It was safe to say that Lukphelton had rarely been attacked.
Occasionally, some foolish friends would attempt to raid Lukphelton, only to end up as lumps of meat.
But for the forum to be flooded with posts like this?
It definitely meant something had happened in Lukphelton.
"...Should I go take a look?"
Lately, perhaps due to all the rest I'd been getting, I felt a slight urge to go somewhere.
First, it seemed important to gather as much information as possible from the forum.
[No way, Lukphelton is legendary right now LOLOLOLOL][3]
[What's happening in Lukphelton then][1]
[Upvote if you're a broke-ass adventurer living in Koruntum and couldn't care less LOL][14]
[The Lukphelton guys will take care of it, don't worry your pretty little heads][2]
[This isn't the first or second time this has happened, what's the big deal][3]
[Current situation in Lukphelton...jpg][34]
"I have to check this out."
I decided to check the post uploaded by a familiar username.
It was a well-known, long-time user famous for delivering news.
They probably had something planted here and there, using it to relay information.

[Content: (Photo) Commanders are currently joining forces to advance on Lukphelton..]
L: What the...
L: The Commanders are cooperating?
ㄴ: ㄹㅇ?
ㄴ: Weren't the Commanders on bad terms with each other?
ㄴ: Why are they cooperating?
L: Weren't they always at each other's throats?
ㄴ: Maybe they finally came to their senses after constantly getting beaten up?
L: But then the Commanders will only get stronger the more people they kill.
ㄴ: I heard they absorb life force.
ㄴ: What's the Lukphelton army doing?
L: Like Lukphelton would fall easily LOL, It's Lukphelton we're talking about.
ㄴ: True.
ㄴ: People tend to underestimate Lukphelton way too much.
L: This is ridiculous LOLOLOLOL
L: Of all things, the Commanders are cooperating?
L: Ugh, someone tell the Commanders to chill out a bit.
ㄴ: Wasn't it hard enough to catch just one of them?
ㄴ: Yeah, but I don't know who the hell it is, but someone seems to be catching them super easily.
L: There's been Commander byproducts popping up on the black market lately, who the hell is catching them?
ㄴ: It's not Cthulhu, is it?
ㄴCthulhu: It's not me.
ㄴ: Kinda creepy how you were lurking...
ㄴ: Ugh, creepy dude.
ㄴCthulhu: This is the Middle Ages, what's with the "creepy dude" thing?
ㄴ: Ugh, creepy medieval dude.
ㄴCthulhu: Just call me creepy dude…
Seeing Cthulhu getting roasted in the comments made me laugh.
Cthulhu was kind of a punching bag in the forum.
A punching bag that felt really good to hit.
That's why everyone loved to pick on him.
I didn't particularly tease him... but many others did.
Sometimes I felt sorry for him, but he didn't seem to mind, so I didn't say anything.
With that thought, I wrote a post.

[Title: So what's up with Lukphelton?????]
[Content: Is it about to get wrecked???]
As soon as I posted, comments started pouring in.
L: Stop overreacting.
L: Seriously, the overreacting is real LOL.
L: Like Lukphelton would fall from something like this.
ㄴ: Are you serious? Lukphelton is no joke.
L: Trust me, it's Lukphelton, they'll be fine.
L Ferus: It'll be alright.
There was even Ferus's reassurance in the comments.
So, I stopped in my tracks and sat back down on my bed, starting to test out various magic spells.
[Freeze]
Crackle-
As I minimized the output, ice crystals formed in the air.
"...I think I need to research magic a bit more."
I may have access to many magic spells, but that didn't mean they were all effective.
The magic available to the public was somewhat limited.
To delve deeper, I needed to graduate from the academy and join a magic tower to learn magic professionally. However, I didn't have that kind of time, so I had quickly graduated from the academy and left.
But now, I felt like it was holding me back a little.
That's why I needed to research new magic.
Magic that I could use in any situation.
Creak.
As I opened the door to the second floor, dust billowed out.
I hadn't been up here since I bought the house, so it was only natural that it would be dusty.
From now on, the second floor of this house would be my research lab.
I had plenty of time now.
It seemed like a good time to research magic.
[Purify]
I used Purify to get rid of all the dust on the second floor.
Then, I took out a chair from my subspace pouch and sat down.
There was already a desk, so I didn't need to take one out.
I always carried a lot of things in my subspace pouch, just in case something happened.
I had paper, pens, everything.
So, I could start my research right here, right now.
Scratch, scratch.
In the quiet second floor, the only sound was the scratching of my pen on paper.
The magic I was currently researching wasn't very explosive.
The [Tsar Bomba] I had researched before was too powerful.
It was difficult to use inside a cave.
Its practicality was low.
"...Simple magic."
I needed magic that was simple but lethal.
Magic that concentrated all its explosive power on a single point.
That's why I was currently doing this research, which didn't really suit my personality.
Scratch, scratch.
I tried to create new magic by utilizing all the magic I had learned so far.
I twisted the formulas in the middle to test out new magic.
I changed the direction of mana flow to see what would happen.
After countless tests...
"This is hard."
It was hard.
I knew creating new magic was difficult, but I didn't think it would be this difficult.
I felt like I had created the Tsar Bomba quite easily.
Perhaps it was because the magic I wanted was a bit more advanced.
Concentrating all the explosive power on a single point.
It seemed like I needed to do more research on this.
Scratch, scratch.
And so, the light on the second floor remained on throughout the night.
*
I took care of everything using magic without leaving my seat.
I ate dried meat from my subspace pouch for food.
I had more than enough paper and pens in my subspace pouch, so I didn't need to conserve them.
Any paper with a slightly flawed formula was immediately burned.
It was that important of a moment.
Scratch, scratch.
I repeatedly created formulas and burned them.
After three days of this...
"...Phew."
I finally did it.
I created a usable formula.
It wasn't a modification of an existing formula, but a formula I created entirely on my own.
I decided to give it a simple name.
[Rat Spear]
It was called [Rat Spear] because it was a spear as small as a rat.
However, its power was not as weak as its name suggested.
It was powerful enough to pierce even Cthulhu's hide.
It consumed a lot of mana, but I could make up for it with my wand and the potions I had consumed earlier.
Even if other wizards knew this formula, they probably wouldn't be able to use it.
It was a formula made solely for me.
With that thought, I got up from my seat for the first time in a while.
Crack!
My joints popped as I walked down to the first floor.
The house looked the same as always.
The place where the subspace pouch was kept was carefully guarded, and the basement… they would be taking care of things down there, wouldn't they?
"I should check the forum."
I hadn't checked the forum at all while I was researching magic.
I didn't want to get distracted.
But now, it seemed fine to take a look.
With that thought, I opened the forum.
"I wonder what's new."
I couldn't help but feel excited about browsing the forum after a long time.
Full of anticipation, the first post I saw was...
[I still can't believe Districts 4 and 5 of Lukphelton got destroyed LOL][12]
It was strange post.
Districts 4 and 5 of Lukphelton had been destroyed?
That was almost unheard of.
"What the..."
My excitement vanished, replaced by a chilling concern.
Lukphelton was a crucial city that held the chaotic medieval world together.
The city of Lukphelton managed everything in its vicinity, which was why peace was currently maintained.
But Districts 4 and 5 of Lukphelton had been destroyed?
This was a serious matter.
It could even affect Baruk if things went south.
I needed to get to Lukphelton as soon as possible.
It was perfect timing, actually, since I had just learned a new magic spell.
"I should look into what happened on my way there."
It seemed important to find out how Districts 4 and 5 of Lukphelton had been destroyed while I was on my way there.
