Chapter 11 - Another World Adventurer's Forum

I became an adventurer in other world, still gotta browse through the forum. AWAF,Korean Novel,Translation,Fantasy,Begger,Forum,Master

Entering the Adventurer's Guild

I'm going to practice magic.

Simple words, but in a way, quite difficult.

That's because practicing magic required certain conditions.

It had to be done in a space where there would be no damage, even if I activated magic.

And most of those spaces were outside of Baruk.

Of course, there were practice areas within Baruk's District 3, but… they were damn expensive.

I had money, but not that much.

“I wish you had given me more money.”

I knew Silvia had given me all the money she had, but it still wasn't enough.

I only had 100 gold left, probably because I had used up all my money on experiments.

Of course, 100 gold would last me a year.

But the war with the Demon King wasn't going to be an easy fight that would end in a year.

Because there were countless demons and monsters under the Demon King.

Therefore, I had no choice but to work.

“How annoying.”

I hated working, so I had lived as a freeloader.

Of course, the fact that I wasn't capable of doing any work also played a part.

With that in mind, I checked my subspace pouch.

There were exactly five items in the subspace pouch.

From Fundamentals of Magic I to Advanced Magic II.

Silvia must have put them in my pouch.

It must have meant that I should study.

I wanted to use mana to preserve my body and spend the rest of the money on accommodation to survive for three years… but that was too much of a lazy life.

'I felt a bit guilty to do that.'

And now that I knew I had this kind of talent, it was impossible to live like I used to.

It wasn't like I had a shitty talent for martial arts, I had a talent for magic.

And a tremendous talent at that.

So I thought it would be good to do something related to magic.

I could join a magic tower.

With that in mind, I put the book back into my subspace pouch and went outside.

Chirp, chirp-

I could hear the sound of birds chirping, probably because it was morning.

Hmm.

It was a good day to look for a job.

*

So I went around looking for a job.

I didn't sell Silvia's name while looking for a job.

I didn't want to cause her any trouble.

And there was no reason to sell Silvia's name.

If I showed them that I could complete a magic circle in an instant and infuse it with mana, most people would recognize my skills on the spot.

It's a bit awkward to say it myself, but I was a pretty good mage.

It's just that my actions didn't show it.

Anyway-

“Ah, there's not a single comfortable place.”

I had no problem finding a job because I knew magic, but I had to take on very annoying tasks.

I wanted to do something simple.

Well, it was natural for me to be given complex tasks.

Knowing magic meant that you were basically smart.

As I was thinking about this, I was wandering around aimlessly.

And then.

I heard a bustling sound coming from inside a building.

“Hmm?”

I was sure I had heard this sound somewhere before.

It was… the sound of a tavern.

A place overflowing with alcohol and meat.

So I carefully went inside.

There might be another job here.

Creak-

As I opened the door and carefully stepped inside, a bustling sound reached my ears.

And then I saw countless people drinking.

Women were serving drinks.

And on one side, there were documents attached.

“Hmm.”

This place seemed to be an adventurer's guild.

A place where adventurers raised their ranks and received quests.

All they had to do was beat up monsters without thinking complicated thoughts.

A very comfortable job, you could say.

I had a feeling it would suit me well.

So I slipped in and headed for the counter.

At the counter, a woman with golden curly hair was dozing off, manning the counter.

'Hmm… Should I wake her up?'

She was sleeping too soundly to be woken up.

Could I even wake her up?

As I was thinking this, I tapped on the counter.

And then-

“Hiek…!”

The staff member, who I had a feeling was the receptionist, immediately woke up with a strange sound.

So I spoke to her.

“Ah, is it possible to register as an adventurer here?”

I asked as kindly as possible.

And then-

“Ah, yes. The registration fee for adventurers is 1 gold… Have you brought it with you?”

“..1 gold?”

“Yes, unfortunately, there have been cases where people have tried to become adventurers without any skills and ended up with permanent physical disabilities or even lost their lives… So, the guild has no choice but to charge a registration fee.”

“Hmm.”

I guess so.

It made sense to charge a registration fee for that reason.

But 1 gold seemed a bit too expensive… Still, it was worth investing in if I wanted to become an adventurer.

And since I had come to another world, I should at least try being an adventurer once, shouldn't I?

With that in mind, I took out 1 gold from my subspace pouch and placed it on the counter.

Slide-

“I've received 1 gold. I'll proceed with the registration. Please tell me your name and occupation.”

Name and occupation.

They were the most important things in this world.

That's why they were engraved on the adventurer information.

“My name is…”

I thought for a moment.

Whether to use the name from my original world, or to come up with a name on the spot.

Surprisingly, I still didn't have a name in this world.

Because there was no need to make one.

So I thought about it.

What kind of name should I go with?

How long did I spend thinking about it?

A suitable name came to mind.

“It's Eugene.”

My real name was Seo Eugene, so I could just use Eugene as my name.

“Your name is Eugene… And what is your occupation?”

The receptionist with the golden curly hair looked at me as she said those words.

She was trying to act calm, but she couldn't hide her drooping eyelids, probably because she had just woken up.

So I decided to end this quickly.

“I'm a mage.”

“...A mage, I see. Since we need to verify mages, could you please wait a moment?”

“Ah, yes.”

They probably did this extra check because there were adventurers who pretended to be mages to register, and then joined other parties and backstabbed them.

Mage adventurers were a valuable resource.

Well, it was annoying, but it was good to have this double-check so that such incidents wouldn't happen.

As I was thinking this, I waited for a while.

A man in luxurious clothes came down from upstairs.

And then he looked at me and said-

“He's a mage, alright? Pass him. He's obviously a mage just by looking at him.”

“Ah, yes.”

He glanced at me once and then went back upstairs.

I was a bit doubtful, but I could understand after seeing his receding hairline.

He must have studied a lot in this field.

People who studied in this field usually had a higher chance of losing their hair.

Because they were under a lot of stress.

Fortunately, I wasn't losing my hair.

As I was thinking this, the woman with the golden curly hair gave me an awkward smile and approached me.

“Haha… Sorry for doubting you. There have been a lot of unfortunate incidents lately, so we have to be careful…”

“Ah, it's fine. By the way, what's your name? I feel like I'll be visiting often, so I should at least know your name.”

I smiled at her as I thought this, and the golden curly-haired receptionist smiled back and said,

“My name is Esily…!”

“Ah, I see.”

Esily.

It was a very pretty name.

It suited her face.

“You have a pretty name.”

“Oh, thank you.”

With that, I said goodbye and received a silver badge from Esily.

The ranks of adventurers were strictly divided based on their achievements.

The lowest rank was the bronze badge.

The rank above that was the silver badge.

Above the silver badge was the gold badge.

And the highest rank was the platinum badge.

There were four ranks in total.

I knew that you would normally start with a bronze badge when you first became an adventurer, but since mages were a valuable resource in the adventurer industry, it seemed like I was starting with a silver badge.

Well, it was to my advantage.

I didn't have to bother running around building up my achievements.

As I was thinking this, I asked Esily,

“So, where do I take on quests? That's what I'm most curious about.”

“Ah, the quests are posted on the bulletin board over there. You can take the quest from the bulletin board and come to me. I'll then determine the rank of the questand the adventurer's rank, and decide whether it's appropriate or not.”

The procedure was surprisingly well-organized.

It was amazing.

To think that it was this organized.

Feeling impressed, I asked,

“What happens if I get judged as unfit?”

At that question, Esily gave me an awkward smile and said,

“...You won't be able to accept the quest. From the guild's perspective, there's nothing more dangerous than having a random person accept a quest and fail.”

“That's true.”

With that, I ended the conversation, took my silver badge, and left the tavern.

I could do the quests tomorrow.

With that in mind, I took a picture of the silver badge and accessed the forum.

And then I posted,

[Just registered as an adventurer, lol.]

…It seemed like I needed some help from a senior adventurer.
